I'm not saying we don't have rights, but what you are asking are the internal workings of a government agency.
You can't even vote. You can't even just change employers without hassle. You can't even just leave the country and come without proper documents. You can't even apply for a student loan. You can be deported any time you have a problem. You can't even renew your driver's license without showin proof of proper residency.
Even with GC your rights are still not as good as a US citizen.

I have a suggestion we need to meet the senators office in person and also try to get more visibility in terms of getting exposed to media may be channels like
a) AZN TV
b) India waves
c) CBS
d) NBC
Since we have hired Quinn & Gillispie we need to understand whats their strategic plan and what they have in plate for us. We need to have vision in front of us. The senator is missing it or dodging it - it clearly means one thing -we are invisible as constituents. We are being taken for a ride only because we do not speak up or go meet our lawmakers. They do not see us as ordinary constituents having the same issues as their other constituents. The whole human -angle is missing.
We have to go meet our lawmakers and explain to them our part of the story/ They need to be told and made aware that we live in their constituencies and our grievances are genuine and need to be addressed.
And although this particular bill does not affect people that are here already.. Beware!! the noose is tightening- the next on the chopping block is EB Immigrants.To answer your question: Indian companies in India or Indian politicians complaining will not do much impact. After passing this bill politicians will cosy up and say good things to rebuild relations. The real impact can happen if Indians in New York state who can vote stand up against such laws. Same goes for the Desi companies who have tried to raise the voice against USCIS memo. They lack grassroots advocacy and support. Their Indian US citizen friends are busy organizing Diwali melas and Shahrukh Khan stage shows. Immigration voice can be extremely successful if politicians see us as an immigrant lobby. Just like they see Jewish lobby or Hispanic lobby. This is why participation of IV greencard members and citizen friends is important to advocate for changes that helps the immigrant community. I this case too, IV community should not turn a blind eye to what happens around us. Just because we do not work for such companies or we already have EAD does not mean we do not see beyond the headline of this issue. We spend more time analyzing , over analyzing, predicting and tracking rather than actively understanding the politics of issues that are causing all the problems we are facing. To some extent this law passed because Indians in USA did not care due to their narrow outlook and priorities in politics.

America does not need to do anything to get more workers. People will keep coming and it will always be a positive flow of good talent into America. I graduated from a good college in India. My classmates are divided 50-50 in US and India. The people who are putting up here either did very well and were toppers or failures. All others stayed in India and they will come here only if there is a long term benefit to come here.

I totally agree that is a very unfair measure against the whole H1-B community and all of us here especially for lots of us who come from large Indian technology companies. Having said that, don�t we all agree that the mess we are in including the Green Card retrogression is driven by the fact that this H1-B system was grossly misused by the unscrupulous body shops and consulting companies run primarily by Indians in US. These companies not only reduced the quality of Indian Professionals which was sort after by American Technology companies but also has made the skill set of every Indian professional seeking a job doubtful because of the widespread practice of dressing up the resumes. I am sure this had to happen sooner or later and unfortunately the ethical Indian companies have also got caught in this.

My EB3 PD is Oct 2003. I-140 approved and I-485 ND is July24th.when can i expect to get the green card?. thanks in advance.

I have the opportunity to receive Canadian Permanent Residence. But for the US my PD is Sept.2006 in EB3, schedule "A"(which does not exists anymore :-). The question is: Will I be able to pass the interwiev succesfully and receive the GC, when my PD is current? Or it is impossible after receiving Canadian PR? I mean is it possible to have both Canadian PR and US GC at the same time? If now, please suggest how should I act in this situation?

Which means that EAD is much safer than H1b. Then why are Attorneys insisting on the opposite (H1b against EAD?)

I think they prefer for us to be on H1 rather than on EAD because its easy to travel in & out of the country if you are on H1. If you use EAD then one has to use travel doucments which technically is to be used in an emergency. This is just my opinion!!
