They hushed up and approved my EAD in 20 days. Why ???? 'cos So they don't hit Jun'30 and give 2 years. They wanted to milk another 680 from me so they hushed up and sent me the 1 year EAD in 20 days.

What we need this time around is a basic introductory article describing the Green Card journey to the general public overseas.
What do you mean by GC Journey? Do you mean the various USCIS stages (labor, I-140, I-485, ...) in the GC process? If yes, I can do that. However, I am not sure when it will get done. What is your deadline?

Ideally GC should be issued in order of priority dates but from past experiences with USCIS I am not 100% sure that will be the case it will be all hell lose since they have just 30 days to consume all unused visa#. Else they will have to face the heat at the hill. So it could be pick any approvable aplication from the pool and finish the task.
This is just a wild guess. I do not dictate how CIS will or should work so dont red me if you dont like the guess.

I know few states have their own set of rules for license renewal or for first time license issue, but not sure whether entire US states are asking for more immigration related documents during the renewal and that too taking 9wks verification as you said, nt sure whether it is true...
may be IV core team should open a link, should ask everyone to post if they had similar experience recently in their states so that we can find out more fact abt this issue.

Sorry to hear about such cases. We all have to realize one thing here. The employers need us equally bad as we need them (more often than not, not talking about Indian consultancies here). If ever one encounters such racial discrimination and open abuse at the work place, the best recourse is to file a complaint with the higher ups in the HR, start searching for another employer and ditch the current racist employer at the right moment with an appropriate email sent to everyone detailing why the person is leaving at such an important phase of the product development. Yeah, this might sound un-ethical, but sometimes situations do demand such drastic measures to send the right message. That's when all these racist employers would realize the importance of the person that just left the company. Then they can try to fill in the position with their preferred race qualified person and see how difficult that gets!!
Better still, please talk to your friends and family in other parts of the US and find the areas in the US that are cosmopolitan and try to move to those places. Yeah that is very difficult in the short-term, but in the long-run, you would have peace of mind and a good quality of life after making such a move. Fortunately, i am in the Bay area and i have rarely encountered such racial prejudices out here. Just my two cents.

I invested so much for this company, like working beyond work hours, working in the weekends, making up the project deadlines for the incompetitive colleagues etc. etc. and now just waiting for my Green Card. There were so many times I thought if I get my Green Card I am going to leave this moment. Years passing by and with this retrogression thing, there is very little hope of getting it soon...
The positive thing is, my direct supervisor is very nice and I can voice my opinion and she understands me and completely supports me. I am just praying god that I should keep working for her till I get the GC.

They obtained authorization to file the lawsuit. They had it prepared to file and received good response from possible plaintiffs. It was possibility of good strong case by AILA that deterred USCIS to reverse the decision without a formal lawsuit. This is exactly what we need to further our cause. USCIS could care less about other petty tricks. They will only understand language of laws/court. For that we need congress to pass laws favoring us.

as per the law u can switch employers after 180 days from recipt of ur 485 application...unless the CBP wants to give u a hard time...he should not jerk u around on that....

In the past the rules used to be different, I have a friend his first child has a OCI card, he had to settle for a PIO card for the second child. Again I would strongly suggest to you to apply in person for the PIO card if any of the consulates are in accessible distance for you, good news is that they are open on US holidays. I was able to obtain the PIO card at home within a week for my child after applying in person.

You can subscribe to CRIS email for status updates. But sometimes you may not get the email. The letter may directly go to your ex employer's Attorney.

You just hit the nail hard on its head -
1. yes, our employers pay big bucks to keep us employed and guess what, that will pay for the USCIS work force to legalize the undocumented workers. Isn't it good to have 300,000 people paying 2000 dollars each every year to extend H1 - such a nice revenue stream, and a great business idea. Guess how many Ameican jobs it creates?
2. Oh btw, you keep paying SSN and Medicare like other educated workers and then if you are unlucky which a sizeable percentage is, you do not get a dime back. I hear a lot of SS going bankrupt etc., but hey, even in the worst case scenario, they talk about reducing SS, not abandoning it. So, you subsidize the older Americans but no one susidizes you when you are old.
I think some politicians actually like our problem, we will always do things legally and it is easy to screw us as we are documented - they know who we are. Some employers (not all) like it because it i a great way to tether someone for eternity in a particular job. It is a win-win situation for these politicians and employers.
But then there are other politicians who think of the long terms effects of taking advantage of legal immigrants, and they try to help our cause. And other employers who get scared that the best ad brightest will realize they have better opportunities else where and leave.
Let us see which camp wins.

The one important thing people conveniently forget about CIR : the illegal aliens will NOT be able to apply immediately for a green card. Thats pure baloney being spread by vested interests like our self-appointed "Ombudman".
If you care to read the fine print, the original CIR has clearly mandated that all legal applications pending at the time of passage must be cleared before ANY illegal alien can apply for a green card. So assume CIR gets passed into law on 30 jan 2007 (OK that was overly optimistic :) ). All family-based and employment-based petitions with a PD prior to 30 Jan 2007 must be cleared before any illegal alien is eligible to apply. Anybody who has glanced at the visa bulletin might know that retrogression in FB goes back to 1980 in some categories. So, it may well be close to 25 years before any of today's illegal aliens can apply for a visa number. I would think that is sufficient time for congress to shore up USCIS to reach the strength required to process that many applications. This is the INTENT of the original CIR, what changes in the new (posibly more liberal ? ) version and how strictly USCIS will implement it is a different ball game altogether.
Realistically, it is highly unlikely that a democratic congress or the president will entertain standalone legislation like SKIL given the chances of CIR being revived. So chances are any relief we can get has to come through a comprehensive measure like CIR.
Assuming this congress and senate would favor CIR...

I would not worry much about whether we receive our package back or not. Because If USCIS is "rejecting" then how would you/your lawyer know that it has "rejected" it unless it sends the crap back. So legally USCIS HAS to return /mail back to you otherwise it will face another lawsuite. The real question is How it will reject it? Would it open a package and check for insufficient/improper documents and put a note about it and then reject it OR just put a note of rejection on closed envelope and returned back without opening it? In second case we are absolutely fine as far as second time filing is concerned but guys in first scenario if you really send insufficient documents/improper documents then your case may be screwed permanently for second time filing. Actually people MUST ask about this to their lawyers before jumping into the bandwagon. I have asked and waiting for my lawyer's response.

Isnt the goal of Education to make a person a better person, morally and otherwise? Is this what your education got you to? All of your Education (I am assuming you have four MS degrees, two PHd, as you have twice mine, and about 300K salary) is a total waste, if you stick up your head to support someone who does shop-lifting and have no qualms about it ( i have definitely not seen any statement to that effect from the OP, just seeking "immigration" advise). I can only think of a myriad number of reasons why you want to support this guy..maybe you yourself might have sticky hands my friend?
