Lets say you have a company. You apply for some-one's labor. The labor is approved. Then the guy leaves. So you have one approved labor. You can then ask me to give you a "gift" of lets say $30,000 and in due course you will employ me in that position. Technically this is illegal, just like it is to take campaign contributions to vote in a certain way...But in practice it is hard to establish quid pro quo in these cases. More so when the person is willingly paying the money and is not willing to turn on the seller. So people who say you can buy LCs legally are WRONG.

Technically I can change my country of citizenship any number of times in my life (cannot, if struck like this GC limbo) or even religion but I cannot change my ethnicity even once because I'm born into it.
I agree Sri Lanka is a sovereign country but why did India poke its nose on the pre-1971 Pakistan and created a new country Bangladesh. Is there a different standard for different people with the Indian govt policies?
Even If I had not got the opportunity to come this great nation United States of America, land of free and country of brave, I would have done whatever I could in India to help the beleaguered Sri Lankan Tamils and protested against the policies of Govt of India toward this issue.
I�m upfront about showing my resentment towards my country of birth and I �don�t show false patriotism/nationalism towards India like other Pseudo-Nationalists, who internally betray India at any moment and ready to change their nationality at the next opportunity but externally portray that they are the guardian of India and it is their soul. I currently live in a country, where even burning the national flag is considered a form of protest, if someone thinks that expressing resentment to India or protesting against her policy is unpatriotic, grow up guys.

Eventhough from a humanitarian point of view, I feel UPA should work with Srilankan government to work out peace. However it is not because the people being killed are Tamilians , who speak the same language as people from my neighbouring state.

You have to look at the context in which my comments were made. Somebody said that H4 spouses go to college and pay instate fees but they have to pay international fees. I never said that ROW people do not have any of those problems but it just that we have to endure that for some more years. Having said that, I reiterate that I want my GC fast but not at the expense of ROW people. They do not have to endure a longer wait.
I thought this thread was given a decent burial, I could trust only you to bring this thread back to life with your hidden agenda of driving a wedge between Indians/Chinese and ROW.

This is only way to set things in order. Number of people stuck in retrogression today due to USCIS misdeeds is much larger than few years back when Rajiv Khanna lost the lawsuit. And old results shouldn't hold fresh efforts.

Who cares if dilipcr is from BITS or some Swami PavBhaji university in Arnakulam. All are same in America. For your Greencard application you just need a minimum degree that can be acceptable by USCIS. For jobs and career, your Indian degree is nothing. It only boosts your ego and you can tell your Indian friends. If you tell your American friends they will just laugh at your ignorance. If you are so attached to your BITS then how about you go and help them be #1? It is your caliber and performance that matters in jobs. IIT and IIMs can be successful in USA or misfits same as people from third rate colleges in India. I have seen people from APTech and NIIT do better than graduates of US of top Indian colleges. So stop having a false pride. This false pride is only good for getting you married via an arranged marriage to an Indian girl in India. Nothing more than that.

He's now a successful head of the computer science dept. in Mumbai and the feedback from his students about his knowledge is amazing.

Thank you for your personal opinion. India was doing well when Vajpayee was PM. He is not some management honcho. It is a vision of the person that is more important. Manmohan is a learned man and has provided country with real good service but real power rests with Sonia and her son Rahul.
Hence. Its a question of ideology in the long run and given my background, BJP govt suits me better than Congress. So I prefer Advani over Sonia.
I am not sure what vision Mr.Advani has for India. May be at this age he might have better vision than other people in the same league.

Try detaining any of their top Hollywood Heroes at an Indian airport for 2 hours and see how USA media and people will react to it.
You people have no respect for your own motherland and always think everything American is good than your own country. Learn to stand up for your motherland. Just because you want your greencard does not mean you forget your roots. Anti-Immigrants (read racists) of this country will still call you slumdogs even if you are a citizen of this country. But your own country people will never forget you and will accept you as their own even if you have lived here for 50 years.
Learn to love your motherland.
I completely agree with you that we should never forget our roots or our motherland. India is far better than US when it comes to family values and many other things. However, this story has nothing to do about standing up for our own country/motherland. Every person who has a common name with terrorist names has had troubles at POE since 9/11. So who cares if he is SRK or anyone for that matter. When Colin Powell was the chief of security under Bush administration he had to go through airport security just like any other common person. The TSA here in US treats everyone the same. Do you think ministers or celebrities in India follow any security procedures ? in the next 10-20 years, US needs steady stream of educated young working population(say 25-40 yrs olds) to take care of all the commitments of social security and medicare. I remeber how brutal Imran used to be to Indian openers with his deadly in-swinger. Those were days of good cricket ... a classy cricket. Outside cricket Imran still commands respect for being honorable and honest person.
On other hand our Azhar is one of those who will sell his own mother for money. A disgrace to cricket world. Comparing him to Imran is like comparing Lion in Jungle to a Hyenna ( no disrespect to reading Hyenna).
Few years back bunch of cricketers originating from AP here in MI sponsored him and his wife to visit here. I was invited by come and shake hand and photograph with this bookie and his beautiful wife. Majority of people having self-respect politely rejected the invitation. Now I hear he is trying to become bookie in New Delhi. Good Luck!
