1] To date there are 60K EB2I and another 60K EB3I I-485 applictaions pending.
2] 3.2K visas were available for EB2I for FY2009.
Assuming 3.2K visas are available every year from now on, it will take 60/3.2=18.75 years for all EB2I applicants upto today to be granted GC.

This is the key to the campaign, 18.75 years to get a GC for an educated Masters student is a very tangible concept. Just saying that we have to wait for ever etc etc doesn't get attention because it doesn't have the required emotional impact, but if we highlight the fact that it would take 18.75 years for a highly education legal professional to get a GC in this country, it would be noticed immediately.

Tamil problem is true, relevant and has to be solved within the framework of SL Constitution with all moderate SL Tamil parties sitting across the table.
If Tamil issue == LTTE, no Indian would support (and a significant majority of SL Tamils themselves will not support). Every single LTTE member has to be brought to the court if possible or they should perish in the war. However noble their intention was, their means is called Terrorism, which any civil person should oppose. Now don't draw any arguments about Black July or Sinhalese Only policy of 1960s. I know that and that is what is reflected in the paragraph 1 above.

You can always edit your letter with comments that suit your case. The objective is to send a letter to support the idea. They they work out the details if and when they discuss it.

Can you give me some thoughts on this so that I can make my selfish mind to agree on writing this email to congress?

When Gadnhiji advocated secularism for India he did so because he believed in "Sarva Mata Sama Bhava"(The equality of all religions in which most of us believe).
When religious conversions are made fundamental right as per constitution the word 'Secularism' became a farce.A farce used by religious groups (that use either terror/deceit,abuse for conversions) and also by Macaulian Indians

I didn't know Lord Rama was part of BJP's manifesto this time.
You are so stuck with 90's. MMS brought economic reforms in 90's so he's reforms guy even though he didn't bring any in his current term.

Now these missionaries are setting up miracle boxes ,so far in rural areas, where poor people that drop their wishes in the box see miracles happening.Only hitch is entire family has to convert to Christianity.Yeah abuse of poverty.But there is discrimination (hoping that when you speak of poor you speak of poor of all religions)even in miracles.Some how these missionaries don't dare to mess with Muslim poor.So Muslim poor are left alone. Neither your MMS wrapped State does anything to alleviate their poverty nor these missionaries shower their miracles on them.
BTW it's not poor and Sankaracharya alone there are also other religious(for now Hindu) leaders in their list(Satya Sai Baba, Mata Amritanandamayee, Shri Shri Ravi Shanker Maharaj and many more) Now what's common in them apart from being Hindu leaders they are also immensely into helping your favorite poor people (no conversions though,you don't want to believe me just check out Mata Amritanandamayee's social service camps not for just Hindus all over the world.)
Now if a doctor doesn't get patients how will he survive?
Same way how will missionaries conduct their business if the poor and needy are helped .It's assured State won't help these poor population.Those who are helping them should go to jails so their popularity gets a dent among the masses.(not that their service stops anyways) So you MMS wrapper is facilitating all this.
I know too much stuff but our biased/bought media won't highlight these facts.Remember how A.P High court held media for setting up a 'media trial' even before anything was proved in Sankaracharya case?(nothing was proved till date but since you don't care let's not go there)

I don't know much about Australia but I can give a sample situation. One could get Australian PR, live there for two years, get citizenship, apply for a job in the US and enter on an E3 visa which is renewable every two years and allows one's spouse to work.

Because they have positive changes to their credit. But how does one convince oneself to support the so called human standing on dead bodies waving a flag of development.
Dude we are considered the cream of the crop who think clearly. How can we hand over the reigns of future of our sons and the well being of our daughters to a person who supported the rape and murder to young girls and destroyed livelihoods of thousands.
Imagine our christian friends trying to convince the jewish friends that they support Hitler because he is development pushing leader who is also church going, non smoking and that they do not support the side which actually supports rape, incarceration and murder of thousands who scrap out their living in the country. There is nothing like supporting half a person. You either support all his deeds or you dont.
Let me ask you this. I am a Brahmin and should I hand over future of my children to any other party than BJP? What should I read out of reservations for OBCs?
Let alone reservations, now a days the people who got reservation are controlling everything in the govt. If anything goes against their wish, they are ready to file a complaint. Once they file a false complaint against you. The onus is on you to prove you did not call them backwards or discriminate against them.

A good option is if you try and get a job in Detroit, MI. You can then live across the border in Windsor, ON and commute daily between Canada and US.Windsor is basically suburb of Detroit right across from Detroit river ex like Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad and Secundrabad etc.
This way you get best of both worlds
1) You keep H1B visa and US GC going.
2) You earn in US $ and can avail of US job opportunity.
3) You can earn time towards maintaining Canadian PR and Canadian Citizenship.
Disadvantage
1) This option is limited to getting a job/transfer in Detroit Metro area.
2) Some days there may be delay at border if US is on high alert, so you need to be conservative and add time for border inspection to your commute.
3) You have to file taxes in both US and Canada (but its not double taxes).

Question for Lawyer or Senior Members of Forum:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I myself is currently in H1B and my wife on H4. We both have EAD and AP which we�re never activated since we had our H1 and H4 and my wife has not started working.
She should be starting work very soon and hence we would like to renew her EAD and AP. Also as part of her new job she needs to travel oustide US. So the question I had is whether she can travel outside US on her currenty valid AP with the application for renewal of AP/EAD in processing with USCIS.

Totally agree. A and B are not mutually exclusive. We need to push for admin fix and in the meantime explore lawsuit possibility WITHOUT using IV name (does not mean IV members cannot participate as individuals in the lawsuit).
Here is my 2 cents on this
Lets say the interested muster around plaintiffs and sue USCIS. Also, The court agrees that USCIS did not do its duty. Will the court go to the extent of ruling over INA which clearly says that unused visa numbers cannot be recaptured? Will the courts/judicial system set such a precedent where they will go against law just because the agency failed to implement it correctly? I don't think they will set such a precedent by overruling against the law set up by congress and the President who signed it. By long shot, Can the court recommend congress to fix the situation by changing the law and by allowing recapture? Possibly. Does that help and fix our issue?
