Apple will make new iPods but only with limited new features (maybe a true video iPod, maybe nintendo games) but when the zoon is realeased Apple will realese the MP3 player to end all MP3 players. It will be announced the day be fore the zoon is out then be realese a week later and it bwill have EVERYTHING that we want-- and more. Cell phone thouch screen/ non-touch, pda, widescreen, an IDE for developers. EVERYTHING. And that is that.
And what is up with the name? "Zune" sounds like microsoft tried to access their inner teen (oh wait, all these poeple never had childhoods) Sounds like microseoft tried to make a 'hip' name. and just like the XBOX put a random letter in front of something everybody already knows (but yet another hitch in the plan what the hell is a "une")

On the Software part of the wireless MM page, there is a picture that shows a stack of new options and a slightly redesigned preference pane - I hope those options aren't wireless-only, I just plugged in my MM and they aren't there.

It's interesting how many people blast Apple. They completely retooled the smart phone/mobile phone platform.
I really enjoy Apple products, and have since 1996. They always just work, sure the hardware at times can get dated between updates; but things still just work. Is Apple greedy? No they are like any company, they want to make a profit.
But it is not Apple's fault that so many companies are playing catch-up. Those companies that are playing catch-up are the truly greedy ones. They thought they could continue to pass off mediocre products and consumers would continue to purchase them. They spent no money on design, r and d, and many other aspects that make a product great. So they let Apple simply slide into the market and grab up market share. Ehhh...it's no conspiracy, these companies just didn't keep their eye on the ball.
Maybe some of the folks on here should be happy that Apple has become mainstream. Apple gave geeks everywhere the ability to have something in common to talk about with that hot chick at the coffee shop using an iPhone or Macbook. Sorry just trying to throw a positive in there.

Nope, I've never enabled them before on my iPad as I'm not an official Apple developer and I didn't have access to the beta release that included this feature in the past.

I can't confirm this because I already had Gestures enabled once and with every new update, it hasn't gone away. But if they are now enabled without needing XCode, then I guess enjoy because I love using these Gestures (I rarely use the Home button anymore).

But I think the biggest advantage is that it would be very very simple to adjust the interface to dial phonenumbers, type text messages, and so on. In other words: the iPhone would be within handreach, and it would not require dozens of buttons added to interface (eg via a dock connector like the FM radio) I believe this was planned for 2006

What if those "alternative" controls were actually all "displayed" controls on a none-touch screen, and Apple is planning on making this device your iPod, your cell phone, and your gaming machine? Depending on what you select, the proper controls will appear.
We know Apple was looking to hire a game programmer for the iPod. We think Apple's working on a cell phone based on comments made at the last financials meeting. We saw the patents for the various control interfaces, coincidentally all being shown on the same form factor.
My concerns are cost(how in the world could Apple make such a device that's also affordable) and simplicity(most iPod reviewers seem to come to the conclusion that it's the iPod simplicity that's the key to its success). I find the ip4 to be way too heavy and awkward to hold. I like this design, it allows weight to be shaved off and perhaps (!) be more ergonomically friendly.
I agree that the back should be made extra study and NOT in chrome. I see them using the same type of backing as the ipads...
One more thing that the tapered back will enable is ease of use while its on a desk because the viewing angle will be nicer. You went up in arms about the itunes logo, but when a mockup is truly horrible, you praise it? This is about the worst mockup i've ever seen.

Maybe they're afraid of yet again having to face the embarassment of having first bashed a design and said it looks like a cheap chinese knock-off and then doing a 180 degree turn when it turns out it's Apples own design, it's a precautionary measure.
(For the record, I never liked the 3G/3GS design, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the leaked iP4 images and loved it when it turned out to be the actual thing, and if this ugly abomination turns out to be an actual Apple product I loose all respect for Apple)

It's awesome Apple is making a base iMac so powerful, a i5 Quad for 1199$ shows that apple is going to be having faster i7's in the future for the high end.

mine completely chokes at 1080p unless im real lucky. Again 720p is usually okay, but if the processor is getting a workout, it can struggle.
VLC playing mkv, mp4, avi files encoded 1080p. Only cpu struggle is when RWD and FF, otherwise flawless playback. Truly a great machine. :)

Anyone feel confident buying a white one given the problems they've had getting one made?
I have a feeling that whatever problems they had with the white color was solved a long time ago. I'm sure they've been ready to produce white iPhones fr several months and are waiting till the 1 year anniversary time fram to start shipping the white iPhone to boost sales seeing as the iPhone 5 was pushed back to September.

I have an XP box running a couple of web containers, and a few app servers; aside from a driver hiccup, never had a crash or secret reboot (and I would know, because I would still need to log back in when I got back from the water cooler).
Also, just as a side note...it took them three years to create the version you're talking about. I'm not stating this for argument—it's only here as additional info.

In response to the ebay comment, why are they seemingly so dumb? I wanted to buy a new canon lens recently and i always buy my photography equipment from B&H (probably the most reputable place on the planet) but first i looked on ebay to see if i could get a used one for a lot less. None of the auctions went for significantly less than new at B&H (especially when you factor in shipping) and at least one auction ended of about $30 more than retail. I dont get it! Don't people do ANY research?

I hope this is true. A lot of people would go to T-Mobile because of their competitive pricing and that would encourage AT&T and Verizon to lower their prices too. Hell, I would consider switching.
nah Verizon and AT&T would furlough a couple of goons to go and see that Tmobile prices were brought up to their level...there is NO WAY TMobile will be allowed to undersale Verizon and AT&T...NO WAY...Tmobile, Sprint and whoever else you wanna name only has lower rates now because they are starved for new customers, losing old customers to Verizon and AT&T and they DON'T have an iPhone...

And agree with Chundles that until we see ALL of Leopard's features listed, there's no way you can make a valid purchase decision on it.
Understand, I am not suggesting how you should spend your money. This is just another opinion. But, I have been through all the 'cats' from the .0 release on. I have never had reason to complain.
Apple may not be perfect, but they sure beat the pants off Brand X. I have been working in IT since 1981. I have spent the vast majority of time with Workstations and PC's. These include every incarnation of DOS and Windows, SPARC/Sun, SGI/MIPS, OS/2, and the IBM RS-6000 Series. I am a late arrival to Apple/Macs. In fact, it was somewhat by accident. But, I am now convinced OSX is the finest desktop OS ever made. Until this no longer the case, I will throw my support fully behind the most innovative HW/SW manufacturer in the world. I would gladly pay full price for a beta copy of Leopard right now.

I should add that this is the one reason I'm interested in VMWare - native disk speed. I can partition my disk to XP and Mac ala Bootcamp and have VMWare use the partition natively for disk access.
