I'm happy with Safari's performance, but I will try those browsers as soon as I have upgraded the machine. Thanks :)

I'm interested in finding out how early some people will be going to wait outside the Apple store. I've never waited for a release on anything before, so this is all very new to me... haha.
I still remember walking through a mall the day the iPhone was released and just being in awe at the lines and lines of people I saw.

Did you read the documentation? Specifically the Animations section of the View Programming Guide for iOS (http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/WindowsViews/Conceptual/ViewPG_iPhoneOS/Introduction/Introduction.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40009503) which is directly linked from the UIView class reference.

Ok, so lets say I go with 3rd party memory. If I have an unrelated problem with the MBP, would I need to put the original memory back in before taking it in for service?
I'm new to the whole Mac thing. Thanks.
First, it's ALL 3rd party RAM, since Apple doesn't make RAM. They put other manufacturer's RAM in their computers. Second, upgrading the RAM or hard drive yourself is not a violation of warranty, so there's no need to put the original RAM back before service. Hang onto the original RAM, in case you have a problem with the RAM you buy.
... Apple cannot give me crap for using third party ram.
They wouldn't, anyway. See above.
Apple Warranty: Installing Memory, Expansion Cards, User Installable Parts Does Not Void Warranty (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=13946)
From 2011 MacBook Pro User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/MacBook_Pro_15inch_Early2011.pdf):
Your MacBook Pro does not have any user-serviceable parts, except the hard drive and the memory.

Winclone usually works fine if you use uncompressed DMG.
I've been working on a replacement and trying to figure out why winclone fails as much as it does on SL. I hope to get an early version out next month, but am also working on several iOS projects.
I think you are in the minority if you will pay $50 for this. :(

iGary, I think you do need the help. I mean, just look at your signature. ;)
I think that his signature is very nicely colored. Wishing you luck with your dilemma. It wouldn't hurt to meet the person though.

is TPE that rubber found around bumper cases?
it's probably similar. I know it's similar to TPU but i don't really know the difference between them two.

The iPhone 4 was a failure at launch. The antenna is broken. It drops Internet connections and calls if held a certain. The glass claiming to be strong is weak sauce and the only good things on the phone are the cameras and screen.*
Am I the only one who feels this way?
Yes.....You are ! So what if you get a dropped call once in a while? Some people take it to far sometimes. I live in a rural area and it is rare that my Internet goes down and if it does, I just reboot it and it works !

I know the external drive HFS/NTFS issue has been posted extensively, but I've encountered a problem that doesn't seem to be addressed in any of the posts.
I have an external 80 gig HD that's been formatted as NTFS by a friend that had a bunch of video files to transfer to my Mac (10.3). I understand that NTFS is read-only on 10.3 and that's the limit of what I'm trying to do. I do not need to write to the volume, only pull this one batch of files off.
When I attach the drive to my Mac, it mounts instantly with no problem. Opening the drive reveals that 59 out of 80 gigs is available, which is about right for the files I know are on there. The strange part is that the drive reads "0 items" and nothing shows up in the drive window.
Can anyone offer thoughts on why the drive would mount properly, show the correct amount of space used, and yet show zero items?

I've been waiting for this to drop down to ~$70 for the last few months now (originally 90ish). I have the same computer as your friend.

Working off the server is just fine, and shouldn't be a performance problem with just four users on the mini. Be sure that any temporary files are being created locally.

Does this copy the OS as well? I ask because I am getting a Mac mini but want to put a different hd in it. I plan to use my external case to house the new drive and connect it to my Mac. I thought I read that there was something that came with the Mac (so you don't have to buy anything) that would let you copy everything including the os to a new clean drive.
