I would say this was one of the most hyped keynotes, after all, it was the first to be sold out , wasn't it?

Is it still ok to buy an iPhone right now? I don't want to go and get one and it become outdated next month. Also I'm assuming the next iPhone won't look dramatically different.

I have been using a that crucial stick in my 15" pb and my wife in her 12" ibook. both have been running great. Just my opinion, but I would recomend getting mac certified.

    Hi,

in my app, I am trying to move a subview which I popup. This is am doing using UIPanGestureRecognizer and gesture recognizing functions provided by apple here (http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#samplecode/Touches/Introduction/Intro.html)

So the problem I get is that when I click on the button image and try to move the view, it does not move the view. The functionality works only when I click the button, and then click it and move it. only then does it move the view.

I would like to know what I am doing wrong.

Here is the button code to which I add this functionality

You can ask them about whatever excessive heat you think your Mac might be generating, but straight out asking them to reapply the thermal paste isn't going to get you far.

... I tried the apple keyboard for about 5 minutes before it got put back into the box. Anyone want it for cheap?

Being a "full-stroke keyboarder", I like the Apple keyboard. I think you ought to keep it for when you sell your computer in the future, but if you really want to get rid of it, I'm sure there are lots of folks who would like it to use with their PC.

What kind of movie would you be watching where it would be useful to be hands free? :p

    Nice dude. Made me laugh....

They couldn't have designed their own clips? It looks like someone just modded a hat with some supplies from Staples. It's functional I guess, but not very nice looking. And you would think that the magnifying glass so close to your eyes would cause some vision damage with prolonged use.

17 form factor is killer. People always tell me it is to big....Cool don't get one. I used it easily for travel to Europe and on the road. No problem. The new one with better graphics card and 30% faste CPU thne mine is looking pretty desirable...Might hold out for dual core on the 12th of never.LOL

I've been researching some of the OCZ PCI solutions (much cheaper of course) and I doubt I will be able to boot in Mac Pro with that card, is that true ?

Why would you think that? If you have the correct PCIe slot, it should allow you to boot from it. A quick email to their tech support might allow you know for sure.

HOWEVER! If you're thinking about the cheaper versions, look at their transfer speeds. Only PCI solutions which offer a clear speed enhancement over SATA 2 or 3 should be bought. Why waste a PCI slot if a SATA drive has the same performance (assuming you have more SATA slots available than PCI slots)?

really weird and frustrating, huh. 240 (just under $400) for 8gb in the UK from crucial, or anywhere else i've seen. 4GB is merely 1/2 that.

don't think you can get it any cheaper. and it's probably going to stay there. urgh.

    Too expensive IMO...

It's not an unreasonable expectation. Apple might not 'owe' you anything - but at this stage the OP hasn't made the purchase - they are trying to negotiate the purchase. Apple have announced they are updating software soon, OP could wait and buy later, or buy now. Apple would prefer buy now, so it's an exchange, OP agrees not to hold off on his purchase, Apple agrees to give him free software (the marginal cost of which, by the way, is essentially nil).

Or should we not try to negotiate with the almighty Apple gods?

Hey - there is only one Apple god and his name is Steve! ;)

Raises some very interesting quesitons. Realistically, over the long run yearly updates probably aren't necessary. I don't think we'd reached that point though, but perhaps here we are. Maybe Apple will start updating them on longer, as ready cycles, and naming them something other than the year.

You can see this behavior among Mac users, too.

You know, when they're down. During the first Dark Days, of Quadras and Performas and the like, when Apple lost some of its magic...

I personally felt it during the deep days of the G4, getting off the high that THIS processor was frikin' awesome and the best out there, and denying the fact that the G4 really was lagging far behind.

We as Mac users also have to come to the point of acceptance: We have to accept that there is some excellent PC hardware out there, some of which really bested our stuff for a good while there...

Then we can go back to the gloating stage, because we have the G5. Hopefully, there will never be a need to go to denial again, although comparisons to AMD, I'm afraid, may cause us denial sooner than we think.

Personally, I just ask my mommy to go to a used bookstore. They normally have a great selection of albums for around $2-$4 each, and your parents will think that you're buying something educational :p

So unless they are buying this as a gift for someone else, what exactly is a second one providing?

Chances are its for someone else; whether it be a gift, for their kids, wife, etc.
