I'm wondering how many are still awaiting advanced parole? I am travelling in a months time, and do intend to go for H1 stamping but at the same time expecting my AP to come through before I leave. Whats up with this delay? Anyone else in the same situation? Please respond.

No we are not. I work for a company which has only filed two PERM since it was incorporated. Nice to know our priority date is same. Stay in touch - let's see if they approve our applications around the same time. All the best.

Here is how I came up with that analysis. Last year they made changes to give GC for those stuck in FBI name check if they passed 180 days. So most of the ROW got their GC last year. There were not many labors approved from 2008. So there is no demand from EB2 ROW this year. With the economy going down, not many would get EB1s either. I don't anticipate many EB5s either this year. So major chunk of EB visas will need to come to EB2I/C. Will CIS do that or not is a different story.

Senator Specter seems to emphasize that he would like to get done with amendments etc. and to make sure that he meets Bill Frist's deadline of March 27th so that it can be debated
Senator Brownback is bringing an amendment to extend J1 visa which apparently expires this year
Will keep on updating as and when I hear things
No visa cap for nurses/physical therapist esp for India, China and Phillipines
Apparently the quorum is not present at the committee to vote on the amendments, but senator Specter is stating whether he will support the amendment or not.

Recess until 2.00 pm. Senator Specter says that if enough senators do not arrive by 2.00, most amendments will be decided today. Else the amendments will have to come on the senate floor.

Do all agree that "bridge bill" is the only real helpful measure for us? Or you can show us some other ways?
I mean let's set at least one goal!
After that we can establish what we have, and how we can make it real.
Anyway, it might be quite difficult to organise such a work group, because the majourity of schedule A are outside the US, and on CP... But we all have our emploiers and attorneis who could help us to lobby our interests in the US.
What do you think about it?

If only wait times were as little as 2 yrs and 7 yrs...I might not even be fighting!!!

This is not true in most cases. The F1 might be for 2 yrs minimum + 1 year EAD + at least 2 yrs on H1B before the GC process starts. Then its 7+ years...
So overall, we are talking 10+ years to get permanant residency in a majority of cases.
"Skilled immigrants have waited patiently for 2+ years"
Are we just talking about 2 yrs to see if there is going to be some reform?
If you don't want to get into the trouble of debating how many years, just say that it is unreasonable....
The best solution is to write the years you spent on F1 and H1B. You can add your additional pains also.
This will change each email also.

"For last 10 years there has been no High-skilled immigration bill passed by the Congress. The world has changed in last 10 years. I understand that the Senator is a champion for creating more jobs in America. Employment based green cards will create jobs in America. I want to start my own company and hire people in America. But I cannot do that if I don't have a green card.
I would sincerely request you to please convey to the Senator if he would consider supporting some version of the immigration bill
giving more weight to green cards and creating jobs in America, or maybe the Senator could lead the effort for improving the proposal"
Please always end the call on a cordial note thanking the Staff member.

I have a loan with LIC. The rates are pretty good and no-prepayment penalty if paid using NRI funds only. Took some time to set all this up. Definitely need a local person to carry out all the paperwork and good support from the builder. Their email system is not very efficient. Tried with HDFC before this in Hyd and had lots of problems getting the loan even after contacting the CEO.

I watched the video and One of the things I noticed was the difficulty the State dept is facing to keep the numbers within limitation so they tend to achieve 90%-95% because the legislative limitation doesn't allow them to go beyond even by few numbers
When i compare the same situation with that of an IPO of a company. Typically a company coming out with an IPO will have certain number of shares authorized to sell, In addition to that they also reserve certain small number in addition to these to accommodate any excess shares issued by the underwriters.
Why don't we have some numbers similar to that. This would make the life of the State dept much easier.
