DMV stopped issuing DL based on EAD card in Virginia. I guess it will be same for TX and other states. You need original I485 receipt to get one year extensiton. EAD no more valid document for extension.

Does anyone know why NSC is slow in the I140 processing that TSC? My I140 date is October 25'06 and I think I would have to get that converted into Premimum Processing if I dont get approval in next 2 months. I aksed my attorney but she has no clue about the realistic processing times.

What are the supporting docs along with AP? I will be travelling by Emirates via Dubai in Novemeber.

The AP should be accompanied by employer's letter that proves your support,i .e.It is a simple letter which states that the employer supports your I485.
Please also carry few recent paystubs and copies of all h1,if they are not stamped in the passport. This was asked at POE in IAD(Washington Dulles International Airport).

First let us get USCIS to process our applications strictly based on PD. Then we will have more people for the rally because new PD date members would be more motivated to participate in the grassroot effort

As long as your job is in similar field, you are ok.
You can take any job as long as the duties of the new job falls under the
Job Code 15-1021.00. which is your original approved labor job code.
Any thing other than that is a straight NO.

A little update; I was asked to send some of these pictures to Sveriges Ornitologiska F�rening (main ornithological society), and the pics are now on their home page (http://www.sofnet.org) with a short story (http://www.sofnet.org/index.asp?lev=2125&typ=1) . No biggie, they accept user contributions, but flattering just the same. I can now sort of say I've been published! :) Maybe the link to my home page can lead to something (uhh, no pun intended).

Hi Friends,
I was trying to get online tickets for my parents to come from Chennai to SFO.
..I was planning to pay from here using my credit card...but guess that might not work( see text in italics below from the airline website) , My parent have an icici debit card but that one has a limit from icici for 50,000 Rs or 75,000 Rs or so, the tickets are totally 1 lakh + so trying to figure out what might be the options....
Have the physical credit card originally used for the purchase presented by the cardholder for verification at check-in, OR on collecting the tickets, OR at the nearest Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office prior to the flight departure. The cardholder does not need to book and travel. If a transaction is successfully made with "Verified by Visa", or "MasterCard� SecureCode�", the cardholder will not be required to present the physical card used for verification.
I understand that if the cardholder fails to present the physical card originally used for booking transaction, the carrier reserves the right to -
Deny boarding, or
Collect a guarantee payment (in cash or from a new credit card).
Anyone been able to book from here for tickets starting from India ?

I called customer service, they guided me to change the country to USA which showed the price in US dollars. I then paid it with my credit card. Had no other issues...

Hi! I am on a H1 - B visa and had a question. If I marry someone from my home country India and she is working out there as a physiotherapist, can she come here and start practicing immediately or she needs to give some exams and do I need to file her H1 - B in the quota opening in April or is she outside the quota?
Not sure about H1B, but I know this that she has to get give some certification exams for the state that she wants to practice from. A friend's wife got a certification done and then she worked in the US, and her employer filed for her GC and the GC was approved in 6 months in 2006. They are from India. I believe the US has a huge need for physiotheraphists and so under some rule/quota they get a GC very fast.

True. Its just a dream. You work on something for 20 years and get a GC at 45. What are you getting after that. Just continue your dream for another 20 to 30 years and call it a day.
If you get it by 25, you have some years to go hit something for your life.
I stopped worrying on GC and started living on tasks that help my family. I have a job now. If lost, I will go for another job and another and another in India/Europe/Australia/so and so. But surely not going to die or go to hospital for depression.

CITI Bank usually send the 1099. But if you have account with ICICI or some other Indian Banks they do not send it. Also check if your bank in India deducting Tax (Usually called as TDS) on interest you earn. That amount you can deduct on US tax return as foreign taxes paid.

So what should I do now. Do I report the interest income from prior years (its very small.... less than $200/year) and file TD F 90-22.1 form this year.

You need to wait until you have submitted your I-485, and to be on the safe side, got an EAD. The can write these things for pleasure all you want, but the minute you try to sell them - then it's 'Work' and you can only work in the US for the people that sponsored your H1-B.

You would receive the 1099-INT form only if your interest income is above 10 $ . If it is less than that you won't get it . That's why probably you did not receive it if you had negligible interest.

Last November I quit my job in the US and left the country as well. Two days ago, I received an email saying my 485 is approved, and card production was ordered. The card will go to an address in the US where someone can forward me the mail.
What should I do? Try to enter the U.S. with the card? What to say to POE officials? WIll I be questioned?

I know one case who is very similar to your scenario. during POE they had to hear 5 mins of lecture from officer (rules of GC, like you need to stay here in US or other wise you would loose your GC blah blah blah) other than that they didn't face any issues entering with New GC. do your home work and good luck.

Could anyone please advice me on how to claim the unpaid salary from the previous employers.
I was working for a company based in Michigan run by an Indian. This person did not pay me my last month salary. He does not pick up his phone or respond to my email. I have all the proof that my client has paid him the money for which I worked but he continue to ignore my request. This guy owes me around 5000 dollars.
Any piece of advice would be of great help.

My wife had Henna on her hand when she went for her FP. The officer asked her did not take her finger prints and asked her to send that letter to their office by mail for re-scheduling the appointment. She sent the letter and got another appointment within 40 days. No problems in the second appearance.
