We are apply independently since both of us are in H1B status
I presume that this marriage in foreign country may not be valid because the marriage was neither registered in India nor done according to Foreign Marriage Act, 1969, since both of us are citizen of India at this present time.
However; we are working out with our parents to get married and register in India, but unsure when this will happen.

Also, if getting married is important to you, your partner, and you are sure about your relationship, and if you guys are getting it done in India anyways, why not get a court marriage here ASAP before filing for your I-485.
From a GC perspective, it "might" be better to have one I-485 application with spouse as the beneficiary rather than pursuing two I-485s independently.

HI,
My company filed my Perm on Jun 4th 08 but it is not yet approved. My H1B is in its 6th year and will end in July 09. I was wondering if I would get an extension , even if my Perm gets denied for some reason.
I just want to prepare for the worst case. Can any one please help with some information.

My check was cashed on 08/31. Based on the receipt numbers on the back of the check, online status shows that receipts were mailed on 08/31, but I haven't received till date. On 10/01, I called customer service and made them create service request. No progress so far. I am planning to call sometime next week and find the status of the service request.
Is anyone in the similar situation of not receiving the receipts even after check has cashed way back.

USCIS local offices no longer issues interim EADs. Go to immigration.com and and bring up July/August 2006 newsletter.
You can schedule infopass & meet a local officer after 90 days. But he will only forward you request to the main center and ask them to either process your case quickly or issue an interim EAD.
But since the main center will be badly backlogged from now on, I wonder how they can even process interim EADs? If they can do it, they may as well do regular EADs?
I recall reading somewhere that with the new scheme, EADs were guranteed to be issued within 90 days and so no interim EADs were produced. But this 90 day limit will change in the next few weeks.

Come on fellas, I need your input.
The delays you pointed out are actually being discussed by IV core at this time (part of our 2009 plan if members want to) and we are thinking of making a case for it. In order to do that we will need statistics on our site to prove how many people (our members) are affected. We can use that % dataset to determine the similarity with overall similar cases. We can also use the statistics to make a case for all cases that are current for a long time and still waiting. We will need community's help if you all want to use the stats and graphs for our presentation on this advocacy effort. This effort will be successful if we get help from all members EB1, EB2 ROW and others in all categories that are current for I485 or are outside their application processing times for their other immigration applications. This may become one of our 2009 push with the new administration and we can work on it.
Writing letters is good. But they need to be backed by a campaign and IV name needs to be behind it to make it a national campaign. Not sure how much individual letters may help as we have learnt from past experiences.

I strongly suggest that IV introduce $20 monthly recurring contribution, I will defenitely sign up and most people will do it, I think.
Also, How about have a link in the homepage for Imigration attorneys. We can list their contact if they agree for $100 monthly recurring contribution. We have about 30 k members, so it is a good deal for them.
We can allow member testimonials for the attorneys which will be very helpful...

Just an update from my front, for the info of anyone else in a similar boat.
Consulate issued me a stamp to 4/30/2010.
I re-entered US. The officer at the Canadian airport issued me an I94 for 3 years from arrival date (instead of all the way to 4/30/2010). I am sure I will travel some other time in the next couple of years and I expect I will get an I94 all the way to 4/30/2010 when I enter back.
Here is my situation:
Currently on 7th year H1 extension which expires 4/30/2007 (7th year extension not stamped in passport).
Have another 3 year extension approval ie., 5/1/2007-4/30/2010.
Will be travelling to canada on Feb 22nd for visa stamping.
Few qns:
1) Will the consulate issue me a visa all they way to 4/30/2010?
If yes, will they issue two stamps in the passport one to 4/30/2007 and one to 4/30/2010, or just one stamp?
2) If they issue one all the way to 4/30/2010, I am assuming I can re-enter the country straightaway ie., the visa does not have an effective "begin" date of 5/1/2007.
Anyone have any experience with a similar situation?
Your help will be appreciated.

At best, I get a "we'll gladly transfer your H1-B visa but no commitment on GC" sort of response. I did a concurrent submission of I140 and I485 on July 2nd. As and when the 140 PP comes back, can I get PP done even though I have already sent my application?
Yes. You can change your application from regular to PPS at any time provided USCIS is accepting PPS for that category ( such as for I-140).

The AA battery holder is for LAST RESORT use only. It was never designed for continous use. If you did it would get very expensive very quickly.
You didn't say what kind of batteries. If they were Ni-Cads or NiMH, they only supply 1.2 volts. The D100 requires 1.5 volts.
Also, you might try mounting a newer AF lens to it just to see if its the older lens. Hopefully the lens you used isn't pre-1977. If so, you may have damaged the body.

I got stuck in FBI name check for over 2+ years (24+ months)... run out of
patience or anything :mad: . I now decide to sue them by filing writ of mandamus in court. I'd like to have an experienced attorney do it for me. I'm looking for an attorney who is responsible and responsive, has been successful in filing writ of mandamus for clients to get the name check moving.
