I always cleaned my room, in India and here. What's wrong with that? Infosys founder Narayan Murthy cleans his own toilet (as per his own admission to a newspaper). Does it make him an 'inferior' person to you? Don't you vacuum your room every weekend? Does that make you any lesser person? Ever heard of dignity of labor?

Firstly I am not from India where most of your guys come from. Instead from Taiwan 2 and half year ago. As travelled much between Asia countrys, no much time staying is US office although I based here. Yes, my English is poor and broken but this is not a fake story, make no sense for me. Just kill the time???

I create this thread just wish listen your opinion and try public view how much chance I can win the jury trail. Some of your advice is really helpful and I will take them.
My wife is writing the mail to DA and wish it helpful to my case. I will have several rehearsal with my attorney in coming weeks. Anyway, we will fight for the justice and not accept that ridiculous battery charge.

This is a situation because of cross-cultural differences, ignorence of law of land, weaker knowledge of English, etc. It might not have been aggrivated, had you been in your native country.
Once in Japan, I crossed rails to go to next platform and caught by police for doing so. I explained them my childhood, when every day I used to do so in small town and it was OK there. Police told me that they understand me, and asked me not to repeat again there.
My son asked for Samurai. On airport, the moment police saw it, they snatched it from me. They kept it under their possession and handed over to airlines to give me back at destination.
I feel that police and people are considerate to situation.
So, based on my experience of sevaral such things happening due to ignorance and past habits:
.... Use translater and explain in native language (You can say that you know technical language to work in office, but don't know day-to-day language. You don't know difference between drag, pull, take along, etc).
.... If you have any cultural example, explaining up to what level it is acceptable in your society.
You must understand that under law of land, the way happening has been explained to police is serious offence. So work around explanation based on language gap, cultural gap, traditions gaps, etc. to minimize its impact. Show your preparedness to accept bridging of gaps to meet the law of land.

It appears that you are cracking a joke, but I cannot stop from replying to your post. Why are you asking God to save IV? For the things we cannot do or for the things we dcon't understand, why do we always have to bring in 'God' in the picture? Can't we even crack a joke without brining in God?

As far as I know, GA doesn't have any restrictions (in addition to Federal restrictions already in place) preventing non-citizens from buying firearms. But you can check with the State police. Go to the State police website, get the general information contact phone number, or if there is one for firearms, call that one. State that you are a legal immigrant living in the US, and ask if GA has any laws preventing you from buying a firearm.
When you have your answer for GA, read the ATF pamphlet that A. Patel has attached in this thread, and once you have met all the requirements listed there, take that to your local gun dealer, show it to them (they usually aren't very familiar with non-citizen, especially non resident alien, firearm laws), and make your purchase.
If you aren't familiar with firearms, find a local public range that rents weapons, there should be tons of those in Georgia, go there, try out a few, get comfortable, read up on firearm safety, do some research online on what could suit your needs, and then get one.

Oh, and when you do get a gun, do your part in ensuring that your children and their children continue to enjoy this freedom, by joining the NRA.

You should get your EAD within 3 months of your application provided your I485 is already applied or applied along with EAD; EAD is independent of your I-140 approval.
This is wrong. EAD can be issued when both of the following conditions MUST meet:
I140 has been approved
I485 application is 180 days old

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on ROW EB3?
I wouldn't expect any movement for EB3 ROW. I'd be happy if it doesn't retrogress further or turn out to be "U". I Base my assumption on the horizontal spillover from EB2 ROW to the rest of EB2 categories. If there is any movement for EB3 ROW i would guess it would come sometime in the 4th quarter.

Write aboout what immigration voice is doing to solve this problem and how this grassroots movement has grown nationwide and will enable a change in the broken immigrationsystem for high-skilled immigrants.

I can categorically state that once a category retrogresses, any I-485s with PDs later than the cut-off date DO NOT get approved.
This happened to 1000's of us in EB3 in 2005 when EB3 RoW became 'Unavailable' after we had concurrently filed I-140.
Now, this does not mean that processing stops (I got 2nd fingerprinting, etc), it just means that the I-485 cannot be approved until PD is reached. Since my PD (03-may-02) has now been reached, my approval is mere weeks away --- because processing continued up to the point of approval.
Now, Schedule A's of course, benefit from being able to look at TWO categories (Schedule A and either Eb2 or EB3, depending on how their I-140 was slotted). Whichever of these has a cut-off after their PD, will be the category they get approved under.
Assuming you get your 485 approved in a week or two, can you tell us how long it took for them to process your 485? If you tell me your receipt date of 485, that will be sufficient. Thx.

So here come the thing. Thats why i asked in my original post is IV just for people who have applied for Green card ? I wanted to know if they could address these issues as well . Regarding inability to work and self esteem , just stay in home for few days and then feel how much you loose. Man , its 21st century and ability to work is basic right.

I understand that your problem is not the same as majority of the members here have. Thanks to IV on the VB fiasco. IV is not a share holder company that will give you results every Q. If you want accountability, you can find how the money is being spent. I guess some one posted it here very recently. Its publicly available on the net.
Based on my understanding, I can easily tell that IV has more than a full plate and neither funds nor grass roots efforts (there are few people who do the actual work. there are a lot who ask whether IV will do this or that. I guess they think every one else does the work than themselves) to push for H4's ability to work.
Oh wait a sec! While I have no issues with it, there will be a severe backlash on adding new workers. Again this is not my view. what you will get to hear if you go on the hill. Such provisions can be pushed when the economy is better and on a bigger vehicle such as CIR. In these times, just try not to get hit by Grassley & Durbin who will impose restrictions on the SC company you are working for. Imagine that!

It results in a loss of self esteem when you have the opportunity to work, but you become a couch potato eating cheese curls and watching who wants to be a millionaire. You are encumbered by a stupid visa rule but not physically/legally encumbered to break out of it.
Obviously there are other things that are balancing or overpowering your spouse's inability to work, other wise you would be in Singapore or Canada or UKor where ever spouses are allowed to work.

When I applied for EAD and AP (paper filed) my attorney advised to make checks payable to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security”.
There has been time check used to be payable to:
U.S. Department of Homeland Security - USCIS
Now at some places it is shortened to:
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
And at other places it is shortened to:
USCIS
I think, they are interchangeable.

Shop lifting has to be the most cheapest crime our indians commit when they land here.. They think the stores dont have anything and try to put it in their pocket and go away..
This is not an accident. there is no justification for what this guy has done. but maybe he can be given a benefit of the doubt that he did a stupid thing, in the rush of blood. I dunno if he inadvertently tried to put something in his pocket , forgot and left the store...if that is the case the guy deserves a break...
if not i cant fathom the fact that a sane person who took so much effort to get here thro F1 or H1 or what not, had this cheap idea... :eek::eek::eek::eek:

If you really look at who is paying less and misusing the H1-B and L1 to manipulate the job market, its the big offshore companies who bring the less experienced folks from India/China and other asian countries into US. These biggies pay way too less (52 to 57K) to these folks than what the conultants who work for local consulting companies make.
They apply for 1000's of H1B's and L1's showing the positions in US but 60% of the folks works back in their offshore centers in China or India with H1B/L1 stamped on their passport. Question is, if they applied for H1B / L1 based on an existing position in US and gets approved, why is that folks are still working in India or China center? Doesn't that mean they faked the position?
When we consolidated the vendors and excluded all the local consulting companies to include only two of the big offshore companies, we have seen their consultants brought onsite leaving them after few months at our group to join local consulting companies for better pay.
To me, they manipulate the job market displace americans much more than the local consulting companies.
I truely hope CIS look deep into these manipulations and frauds as well.
I think the unlimited number of L1's has been a 'bane' for the employment market here as they 'definitely' replace the American jobs.Again this might fit in to the company's strategy and I m no one to complain about it. I am sure most of the other consultants on H1B in this country do make decent enough ( > 75k ) to qualify for the wage bracket that is being applied as a statistic here. The fact is though is that the employers do advertise lower salaries for the positions there by creating requirement though they might be actually paying the employees more than the advertised salary.

I am sure most of the other consultants on H1B in this country do make decent enough ( > 75k ) to qualify for the wage bracket that is being applied as a statistic here. The fact is though is that the employers do advertise lower salaries for the positions there by creating requirement though they might be actually paying the employees more than the advertised salary.

Which service center? Guys, is this the normal trend? I guess the processing times webpage is showing ~ 3 months.
It looks like not many people are applying for AP renewals, this is simply my observation based on traffic on this topic in IV.

yes tons of EB3s and just 2 EB2s. I guess this, and the information on trackers would make us think USCIS has cleaned up tons of EB3s from 2001-2003. I wish hey had cleaned up EB3-ROW too, so numbers from there can roll over into India...
