:) I thought it was understood by now, that without changes in law, there is no "speedup" (for 485 approvals). USCIS has been super efficient recently, what is missing is the "visa number".
Trying to change laws sensitive to long term residents and citizens, by those wanting to be residents is a tough task. What is possible, which we should keep trying for, is to make suitable interpretive changes, in the form of clarifications, which do not appear to be a major shift to what have been US long term policies.
For example, trying to do away with country quota would be very hard, as it is so sensitive for the main stream residents. Making it apply in overall immigration from a country rather than I-485 cases might work. Strong argument could be that EB I-485 candidates are highly qualified and are living in the US anyway. Therefore, applying any diversity rule on them does not make sense. However, country quota may continue to be applied for those who are not yet in the US, i.e. family based cases, or those EB candidates applying from their home countries with appropriate prioritization (for example, spouse joining may get highest priority).

for people who want to invest, there is a investor visa(gc). The limit of investment is little higher though, so only few out of the current EB line will get out. Yes line will get shorter.
I dont think buying a greencard for 100,000$ or for any money is wise. You already are paying enough taxes, paying legal fees.... and of course spending ur prime here waiting for a permanent resident status.
So let them grant GCs if they feel like. Dont bribe ur way in!!
Also if one bought a home and then got a GC, lets say he sold the home right after... what abt it....!!

You have to look at the context in which my comments were made. Somebody said that H4 spouses go to college and pay instate fees but they have to pay international fees. I never said that ROW people do not have any of those problems but it just that we have to endure that for some more years. Having said that, I reiterate that I want my GC fast but not at the expense of ROW people. They do not have to endure a longer wait.

Hi,
I am canadian PR too. My understanding is you have to enter Canada with your Canadian PR within 6 months of getting your Canadian PR. However, you can immedietly come out of Canada and stay out of Canada for upto 3 years.

Maybe Indians don't have balls, but there is something called cultural exchange which every country share with each another. Now if SRK decides that US immigration has mistreated him and he decides not to enter US, world is not going to fall down. Recently I heard that HOLLYWOOD wants to come BOLLYWOOD to make investments, maybe out of bussiness sense HOLLYWOOD should support SRK. Nope. UK and Pakistan would then join the club of India & China. ROW is an artificial construct. The reason USCIS posts priority dates for India, China, Mexico and Philippines separately is that applicants from these countries are typically, and especially over subscribed. ROW countries are just countries which are not typically over subscribed in the EB category.

Yes Ramba. I am aware of that. I will not start celebrating I till I see the GC in my hands. But still I am pretty excited about all this.
I wish your hopes comes true. However, one thing you should remember. There are many guys with PD before 2005 got stuck due to name check, particularly in ROW catagory. This big jump in PD for ROW and new name check clearance rule, will makes tons of 485s become eligible for approval in March.
As they mentioned in their comment, they may freeze the PD for ROW in APril or move back to 2004, depending on how many EB3-ROW gets GC in March.

It is true.They were implemented stirctly. But to cheat that many of bodyshoppers are creating fake Paystubs. Getting just payroll expenses and tax from consultant and creating paystubs. How do you prevent that? When good faith effort fails more and more regulations are coming. If our bodyshoppers are honest there would have no regulations like that.

What if this country wants to ensure diversity to its social fabric?? How do they go about doing that? I always see EB1 as "current" for oversubscribed countries as well. In my opinion, EB3 "skilled category" and "other worker" is purely asking for OPPORTUNITY rather compete based on its merit.

Take a teacher for instance. All he/she may qualify for is EB3. I know some teachers who are worth their weight in gold, they pour their heart and soul into teaching and their students benefit. Nothing to demean you Hopeful GC or any particular individual but this so called community that we are dealing with has none of the above characteristics to go for a CA Lawsuit... The coward and sleeping community wants everyone else to do or facilitate things for themselves. I had first hand experience during SEP 18th rally about the spines , guts , nerves and overall heart of this community when i approached educated ,well-informed ,highskilled peoples for attending the rally and what reply i got. Some of them even had the audacity to call up my family and tell bad things about me ( just because i requested them to wake up for a Rally for THEMSELVES )
CA Lawsuit with Cowards , selfish , heartless - never ever possible...:mad: But i appreciate and support your idea on a Personal level and willing to put a money contribution if the lawyer finds a prospective ground of but we have to bite and swallow the hard reality , you know :(

The whole working world lives by on one simple rule ..... GETTING PEOPLE OFF YOUR BACK. The bigger PITA (pain-in-the-ass) you are... the higher is the priority you get ..........
USCIS says EBs are retrogressed because there are XXXXX people in the queue. Why is the queue so long? Because they wasted numbers in the past and kept the queue long. This is pure operational inefficiency that is resulting in monetary, emotional and mental loss to about a million people.
This is a valid ground for a class action lawsuit.
By filing this suit, we will become the "cactii in the colon" that they will have to address. And you know what the easy out of court settlement will be..... RECAPTURE! We will keep lobbying and crying as we usually do.. But this thing has a far better shot than anything else.

While we are all sharing about our Amway solicitation experiences, let me share what I've seen in the last few years.
Background: In the last 6 years, I've been approached over 2 dozen times in the Bay Area. Things got so bad that the same guys have approached me more than 3 times in some cases before realizing that they've already talked to me before.
Incident #1:
A guy approached me while I was at the mall saying "hi" and striking up a conversation. During our short chat, this 20-something desi guy proceeds to tell me that he is the CIO of Fox News. At which time I pull out my iPhone and look him up using my LinkedIn app under the guise of adding him to my network. Turns out he is an engineer at a local company which he covers up by being embarassed and saying "I haven't updated my profile." I joke about how he moved up in his career so quickly - he then makes an excuse and walks away. I never hear from him again. Another reason to love technology!
Incident #2:
I get approached while shopping at the local GAP store. Being a veteran of this form of solicitation, I respond by saying that I work for the San Jose Mercury News and that we are doing a story on Multi-Level Marketing schemes. I ask him if he knows anyone who would be willing to chat on the record. This guys says "Nope, don't know anyone" and walks away. I never see him again...
Incident #3:
I am at the Nike store and get approached by this guy asking me if I work at Google (I do not). I tell him "Nope" and walk away before he can ask me another question. I have been approached by this same guy 2 more times at other stores (within 6 months) asking me similar questions. The 3rd time, I tell him - "We've spoken before - No, I don't work at Google, No, I'm not from Delhi and No, I'm not interested in what you are selling." He is stunned and walks away with his tail between his legs :)

The local Fry's is a popular hang out for Amway-types. I learned the hard way because I made my first mistakes here. Both guys that struck up a good conversation with me turned out to be Amway types. After the 2nd phone call, I tell them that if they call me again, I will report them to the authorities and Fry's for illegal solicitation and harassment.
This stops both people in their tracks. I never see them at Fry's again!
Bottom-line: Hold your ground, use technology and don't be afraid to kick them around a little bit. Saying "No" is golden!
